Revise the wording. Keep your judgment.
Cortex takes the formula out of a stiff draft, sentence by sentence, and shows you every change with the reason for it. The free sample takes up to 300 words and needs no account. Read the edits before you keep them: a smoother sentence can still be wrong, and rewriting is not a substitute for citing your sources.
Your draft
Keep exactly, spelling and voice
A locked phrase is replaced by a placeholder before anything is sent, so the model cannot see or change it, and the ledger confirms it came back. Up to 20; each must appear in your draft.
Read on Cortex's server for this request only. It is not stored, and the model never sees it: it sees the description below, once you have agreed it is right. Errors are never learned.
The edit
What lands here
- The revision with every edit marked, so you can undo any one of them
- Every cut and swap, with the reason for it
- What survived: figures, names, citations and anything you locked
- A rhythm chart of your sentence lengths, before and after
Common questions
What is the free sample limit?
Up to 300 words a request, with no account. Longer drafts need a plan, which is where the per-cycle allowances apply.
Where does my text go?
Cortex sends the paragraphs you ask it to revise to Perplexity's API, with web search switched off, and checks every paragraph that comes back before showing it to you. Quotations, citations, code, equations, links and any phrases you lock are replaced by placeholders before sending, so those exact characters never leave Cortex. If Perplexity cannot be reached, a rule-based editor on Cortex's own servers does the work instead, and the result says which one ran. Read the privacy policy before submitting anything confidential.
Will the rewrite always preserve my meaning?
No automated rewrite can promise that. Every paragraph that comes back is checked for a changed figure, a changed name, a new reference, a reversed claim and a dropped hedge, and one that fails is put back exactly as you wrote it. Those checks catch specific kinds of damage, not every kind, so read the revision against your draft before you use it.
Does rephrasing remove the need for citation?
No. Credit the underlying ideas and sources, and disclose AI help as your course requires. Rewording cannot make prohibited assistance permissible.
